Tricks of the Trade
Q: Currently, we are producing parts on our stamping presses using very expensive hard tooling that requires long setups and lead times. Is there a quicker way to produce these parts using our punch press?
A: Yes! Wilson Tool manufactures progressive tooling that allows operators to produce parts very efficiently using their punch press – at a fraction of the cost of traditional hard tooling. And lead times on our progressive punch press tooling are much shorter than hard tooling. Our progressive die sets, which are designed as sheet fed rather than coil fed, are made to run in much the same way as traditional die sets that are typically used on stamping presses.
With our progressive tooling, punch press operators can economically produce smaller runs of parts with much shorter setup times.
Wilson Tool's progressive tooling is also more flexible than traditional hard tooling, allowing operators to add such features as holes that were not included in the original part design.
