Q: Aside from coatings, are there any other options available to reduce galling?
 A: Cylindrically ground punches can be subject to fracture on vertical impact in certain applications. By changing the direction of the grind on the punch one can experience significantly less galling than other punches. Effex™ punches are ground parallel to the direction of the punch, which reduces their susceptibility to wear and galling while significantly increasing punch life.
