Advantages Over Conventional Machine Tapping
Wilson tapping tools enable fabricators to tap on their punch press, so there is no need for secondary threading operations on another machine. Threads formed on a punch press have a higher tensile strength than those cut in conventional machine tapping. Forming threads also eliminates shavings that scratch sheet materials. Additionally, by forming an extrusion first, taps can be performed on thinner materials.

Wilson Turret-Style Tapping Tools
Manufactured by DK Technologies, Wilson Turret- Style Tapping Tools offer a wide range of user benefits not available with other tapping tools. Wilson Turret-Style Tapping Tools are the fastest, most reliable tapping tools on the market – allowing fabricators to tap a threaded hole with every machine stroke (up to 200 holes per minute). Accurate threads can be produced at any programmed location on the sheet. Taps can be changed easily with no disassembly required. Wilson Trumpf-Style Tapping Tool
The Wilson Trumpf-Style Tapping Tool enables sheet metal fabricators to create high precision threads. A spring loaded retention system allows quick replacement of the tapping module with no tools required. A high-lubricity die insert and Wilson’s exclusive Nitrex® enhanced punch plate helps prevent sheet scratching. All Wilson Trumpf-Style Tapping Tools are shipped in a protective case with space to hold two upper units, two lower units, spare tapping modules, spare taps and a tap length setting gauge.

Wilson Tool’s Trumpf-style taps are made from powdered high-speed steel for greater strength and wear resistance. All taps are coated with a Titanium Aluminum Nitride coating (TiAIN), which increases lubricity and reduces wear in tough materials.
