Wilson Tool Announces Acquisition of Brazilian Tool Manufacturer

Wilson Tool continues to expand its global manufacturing footprint with our recent acquisition of Milling Puncionadeiras, a manufacturer of punch press and ironworker tooling in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Milling Puncionadeiras is a privately owned company founded in 1982 by Juscelino Aleixo dos Anjos to manufacture high-quality punch press tooling and accessories for the fabrication industry. Today, the company is well-known for its superior products and excellent customer service.

Wilson Tool has been doing business in Brazil and throughout Latin America for more than fifteen years. This merger will allow us to augment our manufacturing capabilities around the world and better serve customers in one of the industry's fastest growing markets.

With the acquisition of Milling Puncionadeiras, we now operate manufacturing facilities at our world headquarters in White Bear Lake, Minn., USA, as well as England, China, Canada and Brazil.

Get Lean in 2012

We continue to be amazed at the response to our Lean Seminar program. That is why we have a record of nine seminars planned for 2012. Two will be located at our headquarters in White Bear Lake, Minn. where you can experience our lean operations firsthand. The other seven will be located throughout the country, so watch our schedule as we may be coming to a city near you!

Wilson Tool's free, hands-on Lean Seminar will help you implement lean principles in your manufacturing processes. Our lean experts will share insight gained from implementing our own award-winning lean program and give specific advice for applying the same principles to sheet metal fabrication.

Seminar topics include planning Kaizen events, setting up lean cells, managing corporate culture and developing 5S programs. A number of lean tooling solutions are demonstrated throughout the seminar.

Here are some comments from previous Lean Seminar attendees:

"I feel your willingness to put on a free seminar for your customers is amazing. Your outline and speakers were clear and easy to follow. I have been in several lean seminars but none with a virtual tour of these concepts in place."

"I liked the open forum style of the seminar. Asking questions and retrieving useful answers from presenters was very useful in relating the material to my personal work environment."

"A very beneficial seminar for the company starting on the lean journey. Already re-thinking our plan."

THE FACES OF WILSON TOOL
Mark Glumack

Lead Manufacturing Engineer / Continuous Improvement Facilitator

Years at Wilson Tool: 17

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Working with everyone in the company.

What is the best part of being involved in the lean implementation at Wilson Tool?
Seeing the culture change within our company. Every event has successes, some bigger than others, but every one has been an influence on the entire company's culture. We are a continuous improvement company and are committed to making the necessary changes.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I am active coaching my daughters in hockey and softball. I also enjoy fishing. Most recently waterskiing/tubing has been put back on the list as my kids really enjoy it…and I can't let them outdo me…yet.

What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I have a passion for cooking. I am not in any way a gourmet chef; however, I really enjoy cooking. It is a stress reliever for me.

If you had to eat only one food item for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Steak!!!

Where is the most interesting place you have been? Why?
Japan! The culture in Japan is very different than ours here in the U.S. A traditional bathroom in Japan is very interesting to say the least.

Lean Tips & Tricks
Q: Is there a way to perform a 90° bend in my punch press?

A: Yes. Certain applications require you to move from a punch press to a press brake to achieve a bend in your sheet metal. With Wilson Opti-Bend Tooling you can achieve bends up to 90° in your punch press and eliminate costly time-consuming secondary operations. The Opti-Bend has a rotating cam in the die that rotates and bends the material during the punching stroke, which simulates the cycling of a press brake with little or no sheet marking.

Compatible in thick turret hydraulic machines and Trumpf Style Group I machines with hover capabilities.
