TOOLING TIP
Q: How can I determine the maximum grind life of a punch?

A: The maximum grind life of a punch can be determined by subtracting the sum of the stripper thickness, material thickness and die penetration from the punch tip (SBR). However, your assembly may restrict your ability to adjust the punch length after sharpening and thus the maximum adjustment value (see chart below) becomes your maximum grind life.
