Engineered using the Wilson Tool method of straight line grinding, punches finished with Effex™ achieve superior punchability and increased durability. Using the straight line grinding method Effex punches are ground parallel to the direction of the punch, resulting in a smoother punch with less galling.
Increased Durability.
Cylindrically ground punches are subject to fracture on vertical impact. Effex straight ground punches on the other hand impact the material perpendicularly, reducing their susceptibility to wear and breakdown and significantly increasing punch life. Because straight line grinding produces a cutting edge that distributes force more evenly, Effex punches stay sharper, longer and require less force to achieve greater precision and higher production.
Enhanced Accuracy.
Effex punches retain a sharper cutting edge, resulting in cleaner punch penetration and a more accurate hole diameter. Straight ground punches also retain more lubrication than cylindrically ground punches. This, combined with the sharper cutting edge, dramatically reduces roll over and galling when using Effex punches. Reduced roll over in a properly aligned punch produces better fitting parts.
