Extrusion Failure: Common Causes and Solutions - The most common use for an extrusion is as a fastening feature enabling a screw to run through it. It can also be used as a port for tubing to run through or as a pre-form to a rollover or flare. In today’s marketplace, as everyone is trying to become more lean and repurpose tools for other applications, extrusions can also be used as a locating device in place of a half shear or even a pin in a simple hinge application.
