WHITE BEAR LAKE, MINN. (July 2011) – Wilson Tool International was recently recognized as one of 15 Minnesota companies to be honored in the Healthiest Employer 2011 edition of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

The annual Healthiest Employers edition showcases best practices in the market for workplace wellness initiatives. Applicants are self-nominated and winners are quantitatively selected based on survey answers covering such topics as opportunities for group exercise, the availability of smoking cessation programs and on-site wellness programs.

Wilson Tool ranked number two among companies employing 101-500 workers. The company has an on-site clinic for employees and their dependents where physician’s assistants treat anything from strep throat to high cholesterol. The clinic even offers free prescriptions for some of the most commonly needed medications.

Employees are also encouraged to participate in on-site wellness programs, such as a walking club and seminars as well as form personalized plans by working with the company’s registered dietician.

An estimated 93% of Wilson Tool’s employees participate in the program, which helps to manage healthcare costs for the company and can even translate into reduced premiums for the employee.
